Retired Detroit Assistant Chief of Police, Steve Dolunt, and current Detroit Police Officer, Kevin Turner, with a combined 40 years of experience in the profession, spoke to Catholic Central students about a career in law enforcement during the school’s final Drive Development Day for the year.
DRIVE Development Days
The Catholic Central DRIVE Development Day series brings professional learning opportunities to students across grade levels to hone their leadership skills and gain real-world experience. Students are encouraged to utilize Friday DRIVE Holidays to invest in their futures by participating in DRIVE Development Days. Opportunities vary each year, ranging from college visits to wealth management skills.

On Friday, April 26, 2024, Catholic Central held a STEM Careers Drive Development Day teaching students about the various STEM careers they can go into after graduation. The presentation featured two guest speakers, including Michael Spillane ‘10, who works as a Powertrain Engineer at Rivian, and Michael Rose ‘03, Associate Director of Ground Vehicle Robotics at Detroit Arsenal in Warren.
On Friday, April 19, 2024, Catholic Central High School held a Drive Development Day teaching students about car maintenance. Students learned how to change a tire, check tire pressure, jump start a vehicle safely, replace windshield wipers, check oil levels and refill oil, and fill the washer fluid reservoir.
On Friday, April 12, 2024, students learned how to leverage dopamine to overcome procrastination during a Drive Development Day presentation hosted by Student Wellness Counselor, Jodi Siberski, and Athletic Director, Aaron Babicz ‘93.
On March 22, students participated in a Drive Development Day by taking a field trip to HH Barnum in Brighton. During the field trip, students took a tour of the warehouse and automation trailer and participated in hands-on training.
