HH Barnum Field Trip

9-11 AM

 

Location: 7915 Lochlin Dr, Brighton, MI 48116

 

Students will be broken up into four groups, rotating through these areas: working on wiring a board, touring the warehouse, and visiting the technology trailer for hands-on learning. They will end with a pizza lunch. 

 

The bus will leave Catholic Central at 8:15 a.m. and return at noon. They will have lunch at HH Barnum before they leave.

If students plan to meet us there, they MUST let us know that they will not be on bus and they should get to HH Barnum by 8:45 and be picked up at HH Barnum at 11:30 a.m.

Please contact ahill@catholiccentral.net if your son plans to meet us at HH Barnum and will not be taking the bus.

Counselor Mr. Patrick O'Brien will host an NCAA Eligibility Center Crash Course (registering, maintaining eligibility, etc.) via Zoom for interested freshmen and sophomores.

Chef Anthony from TruFoods will lead a hands-on session teaching the fundamentals of grilling and essential kitchen skills. Participants will learn practical techniques they can use at home, from mastering the grill to building confidence with basic cooking methods.

This DRIVE Development Day will be hosted by Michael Gulbernat ’97, semi-retired executive (formerly with Masco, Caesarstone, and Regent).

About Mike:

A 1997 graduate of Catholic Central, Mike currently has two sons attending CC. Over the past 25 years, he has built a successful corporate career, serving in multiple senior leadership roles, including Vice President and President positions across several organizations. During this session, Mike will share key lessons and insights that have shaped his professional success and strengthened his personal life with family and friends.

 

 

 

Mr. Russ Facione will be hosting a True Colors Personality Profile DRIVE Development Day held at Catholic Central High School. 

 

Students will complete the True Colors Personality Profile to better understand their own tendencies and how they interact with others—especially with personalities that may differ from or clash with their own. Through guided discussion, he will share practical life lessons on how to collaborate effectively, tolerate differences, and appreciate diverse perspectives.

 

This year, students will go deeper into learning how to work with both similar and different personality “colors,” while gaining insight into how their own traits may be perceived by others.

Goal: Develop a stronger understanding of personality differences—recognizing what challenges you and how your own behaviors may impact those around you.

Todd Michael from WorkSkills and his staff will be facilitating the DRIVE Development Day - Interactive Resume Development and Mock Interview Workshop.

Program Overview

This session provides students with hands-on instruction and an opportunity to:

• Create a professional, entry-level resume

• Learn how to effectively communicate their skills and experiences

• Practice mock interview techniques to build confidence and professionalism

In addition, each student will receive 30-day access to Pathful, an online career readiness and exploration platform, allowing them to continue building skills, exploring careers, and reinforcing learning beyond the workshop. By the end of the session, each student will leave with a completed resume, foundational interview skills, and continued access to digital career resources.

Program Details

Length: 2 hours

Group Size: Up to 40 students

Format: Interactive instruction, guided resume development, and mock interview practice

This includes curriculum preparation, instruction, and facilitation with 2-3 staff, resume templates, training materials, mock interview activities, and 30-day student access to Pathful.

Mrs. Jennifer Recchione will be teaching students how to prepare lasagna at Catholic Central. The lasagna will be delivered to families in need

 

Students will meet in the cafeteria where they will prepare the lasagna trays.

Hosted by Dr. Nicholas Dyc, Medical Director of IEP Urgent Care, students will learn suture technique and practice on pigs feet.

 

Getting stitches can be a part of life. In the Emergency Department we stitch everything from the skin to the heart. This will be a hands-on lecture whereby you will learn and practice suturing techniques using pigs feet. Come join us for an interactive talk about stitches. You never know when this skill may come in handy!

The event will be held in the Learning Commons at Catholic Central.

Mr. Kevin Kotzian, Director of Facilities and Transportation, will be hosting Car Maintenance 101. He will be teaching students all the skills required for new drivers to get on the road.

 

Students should report to the Maintenance Garage, dressed appropriately for the weather. This workshop will take place outdoors.

Hosted by Lucie Lynn, Coach & Speaker, students will learn professional leadership and communication skills. 

Lucie specializes in teaching practical applications of state management, the science of peak performance, and the power of intention.
