THE BACKGROUND of the shield is the traditional school colors, royal blue and white.

THE GREEK CROSS, in the upper left hand corner, typifies and honors Our Lord Jesus Christ, St. Basil the Great, our Patron, and the office of the Holy Priesthood.

THE MYSTICAL ROSE with golden thorns symbolizes our Lady under whose auspices the school was founded. The thorns are a reminder of the sacrifices and struggles endured by the pioneers who founded the school.

THE SHAMROCK was selected by the founding fathers of Catholic Central because of their own Irish heritage which they wished to keep alive. The colors Blue and White were selected in honor of Mary, the Mother of God, Patroness of Catholic Central.

THE COG-WHEEL is a symbol of the wheel of industry and of the metropolitan Detroit area wherein our school is situated.

THE RIBBON with the motto of the Basilian Community surrounds the shield and symbolizes our existence as an integral part of the Basilian Family.
“Teach Me Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge” is the motto of the Basilian Fathers and the sacred mission of Catholic Central High School. For ninety years, the graduates of Catholic Central have made a positive impact locally, nationally, and around the world.
