Two Military Alumni Visit CC, Talk To Students About West Point

During November, two military alumni visited Catholic Central and spoke to interested students about what to expect if they choose to pursue a career at West Point.

"Catholic Central has a rich history of students attending the military academies and serving our country. Having these wonderful alumni share their experiences is a great way for our current Shamrocks to make connections, learn from personal experiences and realize the importance of considering this path after graduation," stated Counselor Jennifer Sprys-Tellner.

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, LTC(R) John Faunce ‘97, a West Point graduate, spoke to juniors about his experience there and how to apply to any of the military academies.

Faunce spoke to students in one of the counseling department rooms as they ate lunch, watched a PowerPoint presentation, and asked questions about the military.

Then, on Monday, November 25, 2024, CDT John Smith ‘22 spoke to students during all lunches and homerooms.

Smith is currently a student at West Point. He met with students in the Learning Commons to talk about the application process, what his daily life is like at West Point, and what to expect if students decide to go there.

Both alumni informed students that they would happily act as resources to answer questions about West Point in the future.

Faunce and Smith can be reached by emailing Mrs. Jennifer Sprys-Tellner at jsprystellner@catholiccentral.net
