On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, senior students from Catholic Central’s AP Government class participated in the annual Detroit CC Alumni Law Day.
Hosted by nearly two dozen CC alumni in various fields of law, the event took place at both the Wayne County Criminal Justice Center in the courtroom of Judge Paul Cusick '99 and at the Theodore Levin United States Courthouse in the courtroom of Judge Sean Cox '75.
Throughout the day, students engaged with CC alumni, witnessing criminal cases and jury trials in real-time. The experience went beyond classroom learning, offering extensive networking opportunities and a chance for in-depth Q&A sessions with their professional hosts.
“What is cool about this event is that we now have CC lawyers mentoring through CC Law Day who were not too long ago attendees as students,” shared Judge Sean Cox.
Current social studies department member and event chaperone, Michael Mach '03, praised the experience. "Our students gained an incredible perspective today. Watching real cases unfold in court gave them a deeper appreciation for how our justice system works beyond textbooks and lectures. I’m grateful to our alumni for making this possible," he shared.
“As always, the boys are kind, respectful, and a joy to have here each year,” stated Bonnie Zaidel, Judicial Assistant to the Honorable Sean F. Cox.
