Students Receive Nominations to Service Academies

Congresswoman Haley Stevens announced Wednesday that she has nominated 22 Michigan students for consideration at service academies. Detroit Catholic Central students comprise five of the 22 nominations.

United States Airforce Academy in Colorado Springs, CO - Brian Apple and Carter Korpi

United States Military Academy at West Point, NY - John Smith

United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD - John Smith, Matthew Sommer, and Joseph Wolak

“Serving our country is the most honorable act that Americans can commit,” said Congresswoman Stevens in a press release. “I’m rooting for them throughout the rest of the application process.”

Catholic Central has a proud history of sending students to the US Service Academies. Students applying to these institutions must complete a rigorous application process, including multiple recommendations, a physical test, and more.

Thankfully, our guidance office is familiar with the process and works with students who are interested in that path.

With their nomination from a member of Congress completed, these students now await acceptance of admission by the academies.

Congratulations, Shamrocks!
