Students Participate in CPR Training During First DRIVE Development Day of 2026

Catholic Central hosted the first event in our 2026 DRIVE Development Day series on Friday, March 13, offering students the opportunity to participate in a Heartsaver CPR course led by school nurse Laura Helm.

Twenty Catholic Central students registered for the training session, which took place from 9 a.m. to noon in the school’s health room. During the course, students received instruction in adult, child, and infant CPR, along with first aid and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training.

The course lasted approximately three hours. Upon completion, students received a two-year Heartsaver CPR certification through the American Heart Association.

The class was open to Catholic Central students who did not have prior CPR training or who wanted to renew their current certification. The training was offered at no cost to students as part of the school’s DRIVE Development Day programming.

Students who are currently enrolled in second-semester health classes will also have the opportunity to receive the same certification later this spring as part of their coursework.

The Catholic Central DRIVE Development Day series brings professional learning opportunities to students across grade levels to help them hone leadership skills and gain real-world experience. Students are encouraged to use Friday DRIVE holidays to invest in their futures by participating in these optional programs.

The 2026 DRIVE Development Day series runs through May 8, with different opportunities available to students each Friday throughout the spring.
