Students Earn Haas CNC Certification

Students in Mr. Joseph Lemieux’s Subtractive Manufacturing class recently completed the aptitude test to become Haas Certified Basic Mill Operators. This certification verifies that students are knowledgeable in the operation of a Haas CNC mill and capable of producing parts on the machine.

The Haas Basic Mill Operator certification is recognized throughout the manufacturing industry and provides students with practical, career-ready skills. According to the Haas Automation website, certified operators demonstrate the knowledge and hands-on ability required for basic CNC machine operation—skills that can help them stand out to future employers.

Mr. Lemieux explained that this certification offers students valuable opportunities beyond the classroom.

“This credential tells potential employers that these young men can run a Haas machine and make parts on their own,” he said. “It gives them a real advantage when applying for summer employment at local shops, positions that often pay more than typical service or restaurant jobs.”

The Subtractive Manufacturing course is part of Catholic Central’s hands-on approach to learning, helping students apply technical knowledge and problem-solving skills in a workshop setting.
