Several Catholic Central students brushed up on their journalistic skills over the summer vacation by attending a Summer Journalism Workshop on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing from July 21-25.
The workshop was hosted by the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association (MIPA), a nonprofit organization housed in the Michigan State University School of Journalism composed of journalism teachers, publication advisors, and their students.
The organization’s goal is to promote and recognize excellence in scholastic journalism at all levels through training, support, and the education of journalism students and their advisers.
During the five-day long in-person workshop, students learned skills required to become a writer, photographer, yearbook editor, news anchor, and designer.
They lived in a residence hall and attended campus studios and classrooms taught by some of the best journalism instructors in the nation on the topic of finding your voice in print and digital media creation.
