Meet Your 2024-2025 Counseling Department

It’s been about a month since students have been back in the building, and we want to remind our CC community about all of the wonderful resources available to support our students’ success and well-being, starting with an introduction to our Counseling Department.

The counseling department at CC is available to assist students with college preparation and life after high school. Each student is assigned a counselor, based on their last name. Get to know our Counseling Department and how they can help here!

Mrs. Diehl

Mrs. Ashley Diehl has been part of the Counseling Department since the 2017-2018 school year. She loves being a Shamrock and helping her students navigate their high school years. When she’s not working with students at CC, she enjoys spending time with her six-year-old son and 17-month-old daughter.

She can be reached at adiehl@catholiccentral.net.

Mr. Barker

Mr. Alan Barker credits his 26 years of classroom experience as a Chemistry teacher for giving him a valuable perspective on the student-teacher relationship. With two teenagers of his own, Mr. Barker understands the struggles of balancing homework with other activities.

He can be reached at abarker@catholiccentral.net

Mrs. Bennett

Mrs. Kimberly Bennett has been a proud member of the CC Counseling Department since 2014 and loves her role. She brings enthusiasm to her students every day and is often heard singing her favorite tunes or talking about her beloved Labradoodle, Murphy. She also enjoys spending time with her husband and their two sons, Shamrock graduates Matthew '22 and Jacob ‘Ka-Chow’ '24.

She can be reached at kbennett@catholiccentral.net

Ms. Flagg

Ms. Sarah Flagg, one of our five School Counselors, enjoys working with our young men to create their four-year plans and explore their post-secondary options. With her decades of experience in educational settings, Ms. Flagg is a good listener, easy to talk to, and fun to laugh with. She enjoys traveling, being on the water or in the mountains, and spending time with her family and friends.

She can be reached at sflagg@catholiccentral.net

Mr. O’Brien

Mr. Patrick O'Brien is in his 14th year at Catholic Central. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and later Oakland University with a Master's Degree in Counseling. He has experience coaching baseball and he is currently the main clock operator for Catholic Central football and basketball games.

Mr. O'Brien is very open and provides students a comfortable atmosphere for any type of conversation. He is also busy at home, raising two daughters (ages 4 and 8) with his wife.

He can be reached at pobrien@catholiccentral.net

Mrs. Sprys-Tellner

Mrs. Jennifer Sprys-Tellner is CC's college and career resource counselor and is often seen in the hallway with her school therapy dog, Keeper. She loves being at CC and enjoys helping Shamrocks figure out their "best fit" and unique path after graduation!

She can be reached at jsprystellner@catholiccentral.net

Without Charles, Siracusa would not have found his calling in life, one that he describes as bringing tennis to the lives of kids in Michigan - specifically, those at Catholic Central.
