A group of Catholic Central students from the Shamrock ID program recently spent the weekend serving at Spiritus Sanctus Academy in Ann Arbor.
The students took the initiative to coordinate and complete a hands-on service project, which involved clearing trees and brush to help create an outdoor classroom and prayer space for the school. Their work included leveling land, laying mulch, and building a bridge and benches.
The project was mainly facilitated by John Conners ‘26, with support from several other members of the Shamrock ID program. According to moderator Paul Stuligross ‘82, the effort was student-led from start to finish.
“This is exactly the kind of real-world application we hope to see from Shamrock ID,” Stuligross said. “It’s an example of our students putting their faith into action and taking ownership of service.”
The Shamrock ID program at Catholic Central focuses on developing leadership, initiative, and character through practical experiences and reflection.
