Catholic Central is proud to announce that seven members of the Class of 2026 have been named National Merit Commended Students.

Philip Calabrese '26, Griffin Carver '26, Hrushi Deshetty '26, Jeremiah Furtado '26, John Kiousis '26, Gabriel Mio '26, and James Womac '26 earned this distinction by scoring among the top 50,000 students nationwide on the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

Each year, approximately 1.5 million students across the United States take the PSAT/NMSQT. Of those, the top performers are recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Commended Students represent about 34,000 of the highest scorers who, while not moving forward in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, demonstrate exceptional academic promise and achievement.
