Rocks Vitae Students Join March for Life in Lansing

On November 6, 2025, members of Catholic Central’s Rocks Vitae student organization traveled to Lansing to participate in the annual March for Life, joining thousands from across Michigan to advocate for the protection of life. The event brought together people of all ages, united by a shared commitment to the dignity and sanctity of every human life.

For the student leaders of Rocks Vitae, the day was both inspiring and deeply meaningful.

“Although the actual march was incredible, my favorite part was hearing the speakers share their stories,” said Sebastian Castro ‘26, President of the Rocks Vitae Club. “Their experiences were really awe-inspiring and reminded me why being pro-life is so important.”

Sebastian said participating in the march was a personal milestone in his faith journey. “I haven’t always considered myself pro-life,” he reflected. “Coming to CC encouraged me to reflect more deeply on my faith and helped me recognize the reality and moral weight of abortion. I learned how often abortions occur in our country and how many women are misled about the risks and the alternatives available. Participating in the march was a way for me to stand up for those who can’t speak for themselves.”

For Jack Conners ‘26, Vice President of Rocks Vitae, one of the highlights was leading the group. “Carrying the banner at the front of the March was an awesome highlight,” Jack shared. “Another was seeing the vast crowds of people joining us for such an important cause.”

Jack said being part of the event helped him realize the power of unity and peaceful advocacy. “I feel it is important to participate in events like this because I want to stand up for something I believe in and show support for protecting life,” he said. “Being there made me realize how powerful it is when people come together peacefully to make their voices heard.”

Both student leaders encouraged their peers to get involved, even if they’re unsure about participating in a political or advocacy event.

“A society that doesn’t stand up for the rights of all isn’t a just society,” Sebastian said. “As Catholics and Christians, we’re called to stand up for what’s right. Policy and lawmakers are influenced by the voices of the people, and every voice matters. Don’t be afraid to do what’s right. Standing up for life is always worth it.”

Jack agreed, adding that involvement doesn’t require political expertise, just a willingness to learn and show up.

“You don’t have to be an expert in politics to make a difference,” he said. “Just being part of something bigger than yourself can be really eye-opening. Even if you’re unsure at first, you’ll come away with a better understanding of what it means to take a stand.”

The Rocks Vitae Club meets every other Wednesday at 7:20 a.m. in Room 229 with moderator Mrs. Kanouna. Students interested in joining can attend a meeting or follow @dcc_rocksvitae on Instagram for updates on upcoming events.
