The Catholic Central Rocks Vitae student organization participates in the March for Life in Washington, D.C. each year as part of the group’s pro-life activities.
This year, Rocks Vitae President, Jonathan Jankowski ‘25, shared his experience of the March For Life with us. Check out what he had to say below.
Q: What was the most important part of the trip for you personally?
Johnathon: The March itself was the most important part. It's the big event for our club every year, and it's a great way to help support the pro-life cause.
Q: How did you spend your time each day while you were there, and what stood out to you during the event?
Johnathon: Friday, we got there and went to the mall to get some food before we went to the March itself. We saw the Vice President speak at the March, which was very cool, and then obviously the March was great as well.
After the march, we went back to the hotel room and had some free time. Saturday, we went to the Washington Monument and from there had some time to explore all of the monuments, museums, etc.
Q: How many students from the Rocks Vitae group attended? Were there any other groups represented?
Johnathon: There were about 40 kids on the trip. We saw a lot of other schools there as well.
Q: How did this experience compare to your previous ones?
Johnathon: This was my third time going to the March For Life. This time was different from the other ones. We took a plane this year instead of a bus, which made the trip a lot easier. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see quite as much though in D.C. because we had to go to the airport.
Q: For people unfamiliar with Rocks Vitae, could you explain the mission and values of the group?
Johnathon: The mission of Rocks Vitae is to educate the student body about why abortion is wrong, how to defend the pro-life stance, and how we can help struggling mothers.
Q: What drew you to Rocks Vitae initially, and how long have you been involved?
Johnathon: I was initially interested in Rocks Vitae because it was something my friends were doing. I thought I knew pretty much everything there was to be pro-life, but after I attended my first meeting, I realized how much more there was I could learn and how the club could help me put my beliefs into action.
Q: As President, what does your role entail?
Johnathon: As president, with the tremendous help of the other Rocks Vitae board members, I help coordinate and plan all the meetings as well as organize charity events.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share about your experience or the trip itself?
Johnathon: The March For Life is a great way to get involved in the pro-life movement. If you're someone who is pro-life and has been trying to find ways to help the pro-life movement but not sure how, the March for Life is a great way to get involved. You will have a fun and very memorable time, and it's for a great cause.
