October - Shamrocks Shutout Warriors In Boys’ Bowl
The 79th annual Boys' Bowl game lived up to its reputation as one of the most highly anticipated high school football games in the state.
It was a dominant performance by the Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks, as they cruised to a convincing 41-0 victory over their rivals, the Birmingham Brother Rice Warriors.

November - Catholic Central Hosts First-Ever High School Esports Assembly Match, Goes Viral
Detroit Catholic Central hosted the first-ever high school Esports assembly match against Macomb’s Dakota High School, winning four games in a best-out-of-seven match.
Videos and coverage from the event have gone viral on social media, attracting 20M+ views, 1M+ Likes, 100K+ shares, and over 5,380 comments. It has been shared by ESPN, SportsCenter, Whistle Sports and professional influencers, such as Jake Lucky and TJ Hitchings, a senior producer at Barstool Sports.

November - CC Students Volunteer Their Time On GDK Service Day
Right before the Thanksgiving holiday, Catholic Central students participated in the annual GDK service day where they broke off into their homeroom groups and volunteered at different organizations.
The GDK service day is an integral part of the Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge (GDK) program, which focuses on teaching valuable life lessons to students in addition to their academic studies. Each class year studies a different topic, meant to build on each other year after year.

December - Catholic Central Beats Lowell in Annual Wrestling Assembly Match
In December 2023, the defending Division 1 Champions, the Catholic Central High School Shamrocks, hosted and beat the 10X defending Division 2 Champions, the Lowell Red Arrows, in an annual wrestling match assembly, with a score of 33-21.

January - Detroit Catholic Central Holds State Of The School Address, Announces Two Major Campus Development Updates
In January, Detroit Catholic Central High School held its inaugural State of the School Address. During the event, President Ed Turek ’85 made two major campus expansion announcements, including the purchase of 149 acres of new property and the development of the Northern Athletic Complex.

February - 2024 DRIVE Raises $873,034.13 For Tuition Assistance, Sets New Record
In February, Shamrock students raised a grand total of $873,034.13 for need-based tuition assistance and set a new school record. This year’s total surpassed the 2023 DRIVE’s total of $802,814.13 by more than $70,000.

February - Shamrocks Celebrate Back-to-Back MHSAA D1 State Championships With Assembly
Also in February, Catholic Central celebrated the wrestling team’s 41-12 victory over the Hartland Eagles and subsequent back-to-back MHSAA D1 State Championship with a spirit day and school-wide assembly.

Catholic Central High School held its annual Signing Day where 23 senior athletes were honored for accepting athletic offers from over 20 colleges and universities across the country.

March - CC Celebrates 5-Peat Hockey State Championships
The MHSAA Division 1 Frozen Four took place at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, where the hockey team celebrated their five-peat State Championship performance with a 2-0 victory over the Brighton Bulldogs.
Overall, the hockey program secured their 22nd State Championship and the team was undefeated in the state for the second year in a row.

April - Nick Saban Visits Catholic Central, Speaks To Students
On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Catholic Central students and guests were treated to a very unique experience as one of the most storied coaches in college history, Nick Saban, made a rare appearance at a high school to speak.

April - Academic Team Wins 13th Consecutive Quiz Bowl State Championship
Also in April, the Varsity Academic Team competed at the Michigan High School State Championship Tournament located on the University of Michigan campus and secured its 13th consecutive State Championship title.

April - CC Esports Wins Two State Championships, Sends Both Teams To Nationals
Catholic Central’s Esports Team participated in the Michigan High School Esports League (MHSEL) Spring 2024 Semi-Finals and Championships hosted at Oakland University, where two of their four teams (Rocket League and Super Smash Brothers) won the State Championships and qualified for the 2024 PlayVS Cup, a National tournament.

April - Students Display Their Best Talents During Fine Arts Week
Catholic Central High School students put their best artwork on display during Fine Arts Week, held between April 26 and May 2, 2024. The week-long fine arts tribute was held at CC and featured the work of several art departments, including performing arts and visual arts.

April - 2024 CHSL School of the Year
Detroit Catholic Central High School is honored to announce its recognition as the 2024 Detroit Catholic High School League (CHSL) School of the Year. The CHSL James Leary School of the Year Award is presented annually to the league school that best exemplifies spirit, sportsmanship, and cooperation. Established in 1980, this award celebrates excellence in both athletic achievement and character.

May - 21 Students Welcomed Into Full Communion During Final All-School Mass
Twenty-one students from the Order of Christian Initiation For Teenagers (OCIT) program were welcomed into full communion during Catholic Central High School’s final all-school Mass.
"Our students' decision to open their lives to God and to express this in a concrete way through the sacraments is an encouragement to our school. This decision will stay with them for the rest of their lives. It will change the choices they make now as sons and brothers and in the future as husbands and fathers. I feel a deep sense of pride for my students. It's hard to overstate how rewarding it has been to accompany them," stated Theology Teacher and OCIT Advisor, Colin Whitehead.

May - Blue Angel Jet Installed in the George and Mary Turek Hall of Science
In May, the Blue Angel jet scheduled to hang from the ceiling of the robotics arena in the George and Mary Turek Hall of Science arrived on a truck and was installed within a few days.

May - Catholic Central Sends Off Seniors with Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation Ceremony
Catholic Central’s class of 2024 was celebrated with a Baccalaureate Mass held on Saturday, May 18, for the graduating class and their families, followed by a graduation ceremony at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor on Sunday, May 19.
