Physics Students Launch Rockets in Hands-On Experiment

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, students in Steve Lemieux’s Physics class traded textbooks for launch pads as they took part in a rocket launching experiment near the tennis courts.

The project is part of the students’ current unit on Newton’s Laws of Motion and basic principles of aerodynamics. Each student was tasked with building a small rocket, then launching it to observe how different variables, such as mass, design, and angle, affect flight performance.

Students took turns launching their rockets one by one and noted which one went the farthest.
