October Prayer Reflection From Father Dennis Noelke, CSB '71

Traditionally, the month of October has been dedicated to Mary, under the title “Our Lady of the Rosary.” This year, Pope Leo XIV has given a new emphasis to the Rosary.

In an address at the beginning of the month, after voicing his concerns about the on-going conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, he said “I invite everyone to pray the rosary every day during the coming month — for peace — personally, with your families, and in your communities.”

Here at Catholic Central, the rosary is prayed Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 a.m. in the chapel. Although Pope Leo specifies the month of October because of the Church’s tradition, we would certainly encourage you to continue this practice throughout the year.

Numerous resources for praying the rosary can be found on the internet. I suggest the US Conference of Catholic Bishops for basic information.
