Loaves & Fishes of Southwest Detroit Award Catholic Central Diamond Food Donor Award

Catholic Central is honored to have been awarded the Diamond Food Donor Award by Loaves and Fishes of Southwest Detroit, presented by LFSD Board Members April 18, 2023. LFSD is a non-profit collaborative providing small pantries with the funding to assist residents in Detroit in breaking the cycle of hunger.

Founded in 2005, they serve Ste. Anne Pantry de Detroit, St. Stephen Pantry at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, the Perry Center of SS Andrew and Benedict Parish, the New Mt. Hermon Pantry, St. Alfred Parish in Taylor, and Lighthouse Home Mission Soup Kitchen in Westland.

In 2008, CC partnered with LFSD for its annual canned food drive, a partnership that has continued every year since. On average, the school collects roughly 9,000 canned food items and $2,000 to help provide underserved families with food during the holiday season.

Catholic Central looks forward to continuing our partnership with LFSD for many years to come!

Service in the local community is an important element of how Shamrocks put the Basilian virtue of Goodness into action. Learn more about how the Basilian virtues Goodness, Discipline, and Action are lived at CC here.
