Latest Drive Development Day Teaches Students Car Maintenance

On Friday, April 19, 2024, Catholic Central High School held a Drive Development Day teaching students about car maintenance.

"Teaching teenagers car maintenance isn't just about turning them into mechanics. It's about instilling a sense of responsibility, self-reliance, and empowerment as they navigate the roadways of life,” stated Kevin Kotzian, Director of Facilities and Transportation.

During his presentation, Mr. Kotzian shows students how to change a tire, check tire pressure, jump start a vehicle safely, replace windshield wipers, check oil levels and refill oil, and fill the washer fluid reservoir.

Drive Development Days are designed to teach students important life skills they don’t necessarily learn in the classroom. They are held on Drive holiday Fridays, where students have earned the day off.

Students have a few more opportunities to participate in a Drive Development Day this school year. For more information and to register, please see our Drive Development Page here: DRIVE Development Days - Detroit Catholic Central High School
