Kevin Walters Honored by CHSL for Decades of Service to Catholic Education

Catholic Central’s Kevin Walters was recently honored by the Catholic High School League in recognition of his long career in Catholic education.

Walters was recognized on May 21 during the CHSL Baseball Championship at The Corner Ballpark in Detroit. Between the two championship games, he was presented with a plaque at home plate in front of family and friends.

Walters recently retired after 43 years in Catholic education, including 30 years at Catholic Central, where he served as Director of Campus Ministry and Theology Department Chair.

Since joining Catholic Central in 1997, Walters has been a steady and familiar presence on campus. He made a lasting impact on generations of Shamrocks through his theology classes, Kairos retreats, service opportunities, and the many everyday conversations where he offered guidance and support.

For many students, Walters was more than a teacher. He was someone who took time to listen, encouraged them in their faith, and helped them think about the kind of men they were called to become.

The CHSL recognition was a fitting tribute to a career spent serving Catholic education and the Catholic Central community.

Catholic Central is grateful to Kevin Walters for the many years he dedicated to shaping the faith and lives of the Shamrocks.
