Jackson Leiter ’27 and Luke Kramer ’27 Assemble 100 Easter Baskets For Cancer Patients

Jackson Leiter ’27 and Luke Kramer ’27 are working to assemble 100 Easter baskets for patients of all ages currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation. The project, which they are calling Baskets of Hope, is designed to bring comfort and encouragement to those spending long hours receiving care.

The idea for the project grew out of the students’ personal connections with individuals who have battled cancer, including Luke’s grandparents.

Wanting to brighten the day for patients during treatment, the pair set out to create baskets filled with small comfort items and thoughtful gifts.

After speaking with patients currently undergoing treatment, the students identified items that could help provide comfort or help pass the time during treatment sessions. The baskets will include a variety of small gifts such as coloring books, cards, snacks suitable for treatment patients, blankets, water bottles, and eye masks.

Jackson and Luke began organizing the project on March 1 and will spend the coming weeks collecting and assembling the items. Their goal is to complete all 100 baskets before Easter and deliver them to patients receiving care at Providence Hospital in Novi, Michigan.
