On Saturday, December 7, 2024, 34 students participated in the HOSA Regional Leadership Conference, competing against over 1,000 other students in the area.

The HOSA – Future Health Professionals student organization promotes compassionate, high-quality healthcare by offering students interested in healthcare careers opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, and leadership. This is achieved through service projects, guest speakers, field trips, and competitions.

Twenty Shamrocks qualified for the State Leadership Conference by placing in the top 7 in their event. Overall top finishers included:

  • Christian Bakkal: 3rd in Prepared Speaking
  • Jaden Nannoshi: 3rd in Job Seeking Skills
  • The team of Jack Conners, Stephen Miller, Nathan Priddy, and Hunter Swanson: 3rd in HOSA Bowl
  • Noah Yaldo: 2nd in Medical Spelling
  • The team of Jeremiah Furtado and Brendan McSweeney: 2nd in Forensic Science
  • Rene Salinas: 1st in Extemporaneous Writing-Health Policy

“The students worked extremely hard this year. This is the most State qualifiers that we have had since 2018,” explained HOSA Advisor, Caitlin O’Connell.
