Hockey Students Partner with Fleece and Thank You to Make Blankets for Hospitalized Children

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, members of the Catholic Central Hockey program stayed after school to participate in their annual Fleece and Thank You blanket-making service project.

Fleece and Thank You is a non-profit organization founded by Nick Kristock ‘09 that makes fleece blankets for hospitalized children.

The company’s mission is to ensure no hospitalized child is without a soft, comfortable blanket during their treatment. They aim to assemble and donate 30,000 blankets per year.

During the service event, Catholic Central students worked in groups to measure, cut, and tie the fabric together to make a colorful, soft, comfortable blanket.

Each blanket features a heat-pressed logo or patch that includes a code linking to a video from the blanket maker, who shares words of encouragement for the children during their hospital stay. In return, the children can send back a thank-you video with their new source of comfort.
