Hockey Alumni Appreciation Night Welcomes Home Shamrocks Across Decades

Catholic Central welcomed back home over 45 alumni hockey players for a good dose CC camaraderie and fellowship January 21. Alumni and their families gathered at USA Arena on the Mitchel Kiefer Memorial Rink, the home of Catholic Central Hockey.

The evening began JV White and Blue Hockey playing before Varsity Hockey battled the U of D Cubs. The game concluded with a hard fought Shamrock 3-1 victory!

Prior to the varsity game, we honored our CC Hockey alumni with an informal pre-game on-ice recognition ceremony; these CC men continue to be wonderful examples and patrons of CC, supporting the rich tradition that is Catholic Central Hockey—a program dating back to 1934. We are grateful and blessed for the presence of team members across the decades, including alumni from CC’s first state championship team in 1959!

Throughout the day and during a post-game reception, alumni, family members, current players, and coaches enjoyed hospitality, food and beverages in CJ’s Brewery and Restaurant at USA Arena.

A special thank you to Mike Giordano and Tom Nugent ‘78 for their time, effort, attention to detail, and love for CC Hockey, our players, coaches, parents, and alumni.  They bleed Mary Alma Mater Blue and White, and we all are better for it! Both men are true examples of goodness, discipline and knowledge in action. Go Shamrocks!

Alumni cheer on hockey players as they head out to the ice in the tunnel
