Health Class Students Earn HeartSaver CPR Certification

Students in Catholic Central’s Health Class earned their HeartSaver CPR certification this week during a hands-on training session led by School Nurse Laura Helm.

The training, held on Wednesday, May 8, 2025, focused on chest compressions and rescue breathing techniques, giving students a practical understanding of how to respond in a cardiac emergency.

The HeartSaver CPR program, developed by the American Heart Association, teaches participants how to respond to cardiac emergencies until professional help arrives.

The curriculum included instruction on how to recognize cardiac arrest, properly administer compressions, and deliver rescue breaths. Students practiced on CPR manikins and were evaluated for proper technique and response time.

Students practiced on CPR manikins, learning how to recognize when someone needs help and how to perform compressions and breaths effectively. After completing the session and meeting the course requirements, they received their certification.

Catholic Central includes CPR certification as part of its Health curriculum to ensure students are prepared with basic life-saving skills before graduation.
