With thanksgiving to Almighty God, the Basilian Fathers announced their new General Council and that the Very Reverend John B. Huber, CSB was elected as the twenty-sixth Superior General of the Priests of the Congregation of Saint Basil on July 13, 2026, during their 2026 General Chapter.

The General Chapter is held every four years to discern the Congregation's path forward and to elect the leadership team that will guide the Basilian Fathers into the future. This year's Chapter carries special resonance for the CC community, as Fr. Huber's Basilian ministry has been deeply intertwined with the school for more than a decade.

Fr. Huber served as principal of Catholic Central from 2010 to 2014 and as the school's president from 2014 to 2018. He has since continued to serve CC directly as a member of the school's board. Most recently, he served as Vicar General of the Congregation since 2022.

Also elected to the new General Council:

• Vicar General: Fr. Maurice Restivo, CSB — most recently Director of Novices in Bogotá, Colombia
• Second Councilor: Fr. Pedro Mora, CSB — Pastor of Our Lady of Egypt Parish, Bogotá, Colombia
• Third Councilor: Fr. Terence Kersch, CSB — most recently Director of Studies
• Fourth Councilor: Fr. Paul English, CSB — St. Anne's Parish, Houston, Texas

As Superior General, Fr. Huber will lead the Congregation of St. Basil, a Catholic religious community founded in France in 1822 and dedicated to education and evangelization. The Basilian Fathers sponsor schools and parishes across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Colombia, including Catholic Central High School.

Catholic Central is also happy to announce that Fr. Patrick Fulton, CSB will return to Catholic Central for the 2026-2027 school year as the VP of Mission & Spirituality.
