When a major water main break recently disrupted service at Fox Run Senior Living Community in Novi, the staff and residents were faced with a challenging situation: ten buildings, more than 1,500 residents, and no running water.

In the midst of the emergency, members of the Catholic Central football team stepped up to lend a hand, embodying the school’s values of Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge through their selfless service.

With little notice, the student-athletes arrived ready to help. They spent the day carrying buckets of water from the pool to residents’ rooms so toilets could be flushed, and delivering bottled water throughout the facility. Their efforts provided much-needed relief to the staff and residents, who were working tirelessly to manage the crisis.

The team members who volunteered included Noah Jorgensen ‘27, Jalen Montlouis ‘27, Jake Patros ‘27, Colsen Vanwasshnova ‘27, Luke White ‘27, Alex Spangler ‘27, and Duke Banta ‘27, along with parents Rudy Patros and Bradford Banta.

Fox Run shared their gratitude in a recent employee newsletter, highlighting how the students’ actions made a real difference:

“The spirit of service didn’t stop with our Fox Run team. We were also touched by the generosity of students from Catholic Central High School who volunteered their time to lend a helping hand. Their energy and commitment brought an extra layer of support and reminded us of the importance of community partnerships. It was inspiring to see young people step forward with such enthusiasm and care.”

Catholic Central is proud of these young men for answering the call to serve, showing once again that being a Shamrock means living out faith and service both on and off the field.
