Catholic Central’s bass fishing team is celebrating another state championship after Donnie Periard 2028 and Anthony Oliver 2028 won the Michigan Bass Nation Big Bass Youth High School Trail State Championship on August 9, 2026, on Saginaw Bay.
The victory marks the second state championship of the season for the Catholic Central anglers. In May, Periard and Oliver won the TBF-SAF (The Bass Federation-Student Angler Federation) Michigan High School State Championship.
The two championships represent titles from the state’s two main competitive bass fishing organizations, making the accomplishments an impressive finish to a successful season for the Shamrocks.
The Catholic Central fishing program is led by Paul Miner ’86 and his son, Jack Miner ’25, who have helped build a competitive program that continues to bring home top honors.
Congratulations to Donnie and Anthony on an outstanding season and two state championships!
