Finance Club Welcomes Andrew Nemes 2013 for Career Discussion

Catholic Central's Finance Club kicked off the school year with a special guest speaker on Monday, September 21, 2026, welcoming Andrew Nemes 2013 to share insights from his professional journey in finance.

Nemes, a former CPA and current financial advisor with Nemes Rush, spoke to students during a meeting in the cafeteria about his career path and the lessons he has learned since graduating from Catholic Central. Nemes Rush, a longtime supporter of the school, is a Catholic Central sponsor led by Andrew, his brother Chris Nemes '09, and their father.

Reflecting on his decision to speak with students, Nemes emphasized the importance of giving back to the Shamrock community.

"I remember being here at Catholic Central, and there's so many great opportunities and alumni to learn from, and I wanted to give back," he said.

The presentation offered students a firsthand look at careers in accounting, financial planning, and investment management while highlighting the value of networking within the Catholic Central community.

Finance Club moderator Anthony Cornish also provided an update on the continued growth and success of the program. Now in its ninth year, the club has grown from humble beginnings into what Cornish believes is the largest high school student-run stock account in the country.

The club currently boasts 212 members, making it one of the largest student organizations at Catholic Central. Despite a strong turnout at the first meeting, many members were unable to attend because of commitments to fall sports.

The club's investment portfolio has grown to more than $450,000, with a long-term goal of reaching $1 million. In addition to building the portfolio, the club regularly directs proceeds into an endowment established in its name. That endowment is already providing scholarship support for Catholic Central students.

Looking ahead, Cornish said the endowment will continue to benefit the school community through scholarships, Basilian missions, and future school improvement projects.

Alumni, parents, and community members interested in following the club's progress can view its publicly accessible portfolio website at: Finance Club Holdings Dashboard.
