Finance Club Students Meet Jamie Dimon at Detroit Economic Club

Written by Christian Bakkal '25

Members of the Finance Club board at Catholic Central left school on Wednesday, September 20 to attend a meeting of the Detroit Economic Club. The guest speaker for this meeting was Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase Bank. Nine students, accompanied by Mr. Griffin, one of the Finance Club moderators, embarked on an eye-opening field trip.

The day began with a visit to one of Mr. Griffin's properties, home to an entrepreneur named Kass, who runs the successful car wrapping business, K&A Customs. This unique experience provided students with valuable insights into entrepreneurship and property management.

The main event of the day took place at the Motor City Casino, where students first attended a private session with Jamie Dimon. Alongside students from other schools, they had the privilege of asking questions and engaging in a meaningful conversation with the respected CEO.

After the private meeting, Dimon had a fireside chat with Dennis Archer, Jr., the CEO of Sixteen42 Ventures. This address to the Detroit Economic Club was a highlight of the day. Dimon shared valuable insights about current global financial and geopolitical issues, and he also talked about JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s decade-long commitment to Detroit. His words resonated with the students, serving as a source of inspiration for their own future endeavors.

Following Dimon's address, the students had the opportunity to network with members of the Detroit Economic Club during a luncheon. This experience allowed them to forge connections that may prove pivotal in their future careers within the finance industry.
