Finance Club Attends DEC Auto Show Luncheon

Written by David Creen '23

Members of the finance club traveled with co-moderator and English teacher Mr. Kevin Griffin ’96 to Detroit’s Huntington Place to attend the Detroit Economic Club’s annual Auto Show Luncheon on September 16. The DEC hosted guest speaker Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Airlines. Finance Club members were able to listen to Bastian’s personal stories and ask him questions about both his career and his outlook on the future of air travel.

Bastian reported on the state of Delta Airlines and highlighted that Delta has hired over 20,000 people in the last year. He also detailed plans to make the process of moving through an airport faster and more comfortable.

Finance club members were also able to network with business leaders from around the city, state, and country. They are especially grateful to Mr. Andy Storm, President and CEO of Eckhart, Inc., for his sponsorship of the club's table. Mr. Storm and his associates took the time to speak with Finance Club members and gave them insightful advice about school and their future careers.

After the formal meeting concluded, the Shamrocks enjoyed lunch in the Huntington Place atrium and were given free tickets to the 2022 Detroit North American International Auto Show.

Indeed, it was a great day to be a Shamrock!
