Faculty Spotlight: Angela Dugas-Hill, Director of Parent Engagement and Special Events

For Angela Dugas-Hill, Catholic Central has been part of her life for much longer than the seven years she has worked at the school.

As the Director of Parent Engagement and Special Events, Angela serves as a liaison between Catholic Central's parent community and the Alumni and Advancement Office. Her connection to the Shamrock community, however, runs deep. Her son and brother are Catholic Central graduates, as are many of her nephews and cousins. Her parents were also deeply involved in the school through the Dad's Club and Mother's Club.

A graduate of Ladywood High School, Angela’s connection to Catholic Central dates back to her own high school years.

“From CC football games and basketball games to high school dances and bonfires, the ties run deep,” she said.

Today, Angela plays an important role on Catholic Central's Advancement Team. In addition to working closely with parents, she oversees the Advancement Associates and Special Events. Her work includes fundraising through the generosity of parents, alumni parents, businesses, and event sponsors.

While the Advancement Office is responsible for development and fundraising, Angela believes relationship-building is a responsibility shared throughout the entire Catholic Central community.

“Our office is the development office, but I don't think everyone realizes that the mission of development and relationship building is the role of every team member in our school,” she said. “Every relationship we make, every positive word we speak about the school impacts a family's decision to support this great school.”

For Angela, the relationships she builds with Shamrock families are the most rewarding part of her work.

“Families only know what their sons tell them, but I get to share with them all the plans, the visions, and all the sweet moments, like 21 boys entering the Catholic Church,” she said. “It is a joy!”

Throughout her time at Catholic Central, she has found meaning in the moments that reflect the heart of the Shamrock community, including Boys Bowl, DRIVE, and all-school Masses. One project, however, holds a particularly special place in her heart.

“Building a new grotto has been the most rewarding aspect of my time at CC because it honors all those who have made this place so great under the patronage of our Blessed Mother and the guidance of our Basilian Fathers,” she said.

Angela hopes the Catholic Central community understands that the work of the Advancement Team is deeply connected to the school's mission and future.

“It all starts with raising money for tuition assistance to make CC accessible for all those who want to attend Catholic Central or making campus improvements to provide the best education and experience our families desire,” she said.

Unlike public schools, which receive funding through bonds and millages, Catholic Central relies on the generosity of those who believe in its mission and the value of Catholic education.

“Without our supporters, nothing happens here,” Angela said. “When you think about it, it is an enormous task and tremendous privilege to continue the legacy of Catholic Central.”

For Angela, that legacy is personal. From her family's longstanding connection to the school to the relationships she now builds with today's Shamrock families, Catholic Central has remained an important part of her life, and she is grateful for the opportunity to help shape its future.
