Eight Seniors Recognized as National Merit Commended Students

Catholic Central is proud to announce that eight members of the Class of 2027 have been named National Merit Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The students are:

  • Jacob Cherian ’27
  • Jonathon Creen ’27
  • Jaden Furtado ’27
  • Noah Jorgensen ’27
  • Maxwell Mast ’27
  • Jonah Moore ’27
  • Akash Pulpa ’27
  • Joshua Tamas ’27

The students earned the recognition based on their performance on the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), the qualifying test for the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.

More than 1.3 million students entered the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT. Of those students, approximately 50,000 of the highest scorers qualified for recognition, with about 34,000 named Commended Students based on a nationally applied Selection Index qualifying score.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recognizes Commended Students for their outstanding academic promise and potential for success in college. While they do not continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships, they receive Letters of Commendation through their schools.

Congratulations to Jacob, Jonathon, Jaden, Noah, Maxwell, Jonah, Akash, and Joshua on this well-deserved recognition!
