Dominic Recchione ’26 Wins Two Emmy Awards for Student Media Work

Dominic Recchione ’26 has turned a pair of nominations into a major achievement, earning two Student Production Awards from the Michigan Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Recchione won in the Producer category for both of his nominated projects: Detroit Catholic Central State Championship Recap and Detroit Catholic Central State Championship Hype Video. The awards recognize his outstanding work in storytelling, production, and creative direction, highlighting both the tradition of Catholic Central athletics and his ability to bring those moments to life on screen.

The Student Production Awards celebrate excellence among high school and college media students across Michigan. Winners were announced at the awards ceremony held April 26, 2026, at Michigan State University, where top student filmmakers and producers from around the state were honored.

Winning in both categories is a notable accomplishment, particularly given the competitive field of entries. Recchione’s work stood out for its polish, energy, and ability to capture the spirit of Catholic Central.

"Watching Dom grow from a kid with a camera, filming local games and chasing moments, to winning two Emmy Awards in one night is something we’ll never forget. We’re beyond proud, not just of the awards, but of the work behind them. The time, the focus, the belief in himself. That’s what got him here. Thank you to everyone who’s supported him along the way. It truly means everything. And a special thank you to Detroit Catholic Central for giving Dom the platform to express his creativity and grow his passion," stated Dominic's mother, Jennifer Recchione, Administrative Assistant to the Principal at Catholic Central High School.

Congratulations, Dominic, on this outstanding achievement! Everyone at Catholic Central is proud of you and excited to see what the future holds.
