David Kibbey ’24 Leads Northville Concours d’Elegance to Record-Breaking Year

On July 11-13, 2025, David Kibbey ’24 once again brought the community together for the Northville Concours d’Elegance, a premier automotive event that continues to grow in size, scope, and mission.

“The event was truly a resounding success,” said David. “We are so appreciative that the community came together from far and wide to support the next generation of automotive enthusiasts,” shared David.

The festivities began with a Friday night kickoff in Downtown Northville, presented by Cauley Ferrari and the Detroit Athletic Club. On Saturday, guests enjoyed the “Cars and Community” program at Vanguard Motor Sales, followed by a scenic driving tour that included an exclusive stop at Kristen and Ken Lingenfelter’s Collection in Brighton. The evening concluded with a private dinner hosted by Aston Martin of Detroit and the LaFontaine Family.

The weekend’s centerpiece was Sunday’s Concours d’Elegance, presented by UBS, featuring more than 135 collector-grade vehicles from across the U.S. and Canada. The event drew over 2,000 attendees, nearly tripling last year’s attendance and doubling the number of vehicles on display.

As a nonprofit, the Northville Concours is driven by a mission to inspire the next generation of automotive enthusiasts. Each year, the organization selects a Chief Mentor from the industry, and this year welcomed Ed Welburn, retired VP of Global Design at General Motors.

Welburn was joined by 21 respected automotive designers and executives, many of whom also judge at the Concours of America. Together, they guided over 30 young people in collaboratively judging the vehicles, offering mentorship and real-world experience in automotive design.

This year also marked the beginning of a new partnership with GM’s Youth Modelers Artists Designers (YMAD) team. The event offered free admission to all attendees 18 and under.

David was supported by a strong team, including several Catholic Central students who played key roles in the event: Hayden Sawka ‘25, Gage Filip ‘24, Drew Lehnert ‘24, Chase Ziegler ‘24, Ross Ziegler ‘20, Logan Ziegler ‘20, Colton Jones ‘25, Hayden Kibbey ‘19, and Jordan Diegel ‘24.
