Current Students Shine In Welcoming The Class of 2028

On Thursday, February 29, Detroit Catholic Central High School held its annual Incoming Students Night to welcome the future class of 2028 into the community and provide families with important information about the upcoming school year.

The class of 2028 marks a special milestone in Catholic Central history as students will represent the 100th graduating class.

More than 250 families were in attendance at the event, which was held from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM in the main gymnasium. Will Patterson ‘26 and Ruell Estmond ‘27 served as co-hosts for the event and seniors Diego Thompson, Ben Clinger, and Chase Ziegler shared their stories.

Additionally, more than 60 other current CC students took time out of their Thursday nights to help welcome families.

President Ed Turek ’85, Principal Father Patrick Fulton, CSB, Director of Admissions and PR, Jake Marmul ’07, and Athletic Director, Aaron Babicz ’93 also spoke.

The admissions office received great feedback from families in attendance. One incoming parent stated, “I was really impressed with the current students who spoke. Last night really cemented our decision to send our son to CC. We as a family are grateful to be welcomed with such open arms to a great community, culture, and school.”

Refreshments and Catholic Central swag were handed out in the cafeteria afterwards. All students in attendance received a knit hat. Registered families picked up their CC hooded sweatshirts as gifts from the admissions office.
