The CC Shambots, Catholic Central High School’s robotics team, has qualified for the FIRST Robotics World Championship, set to take place later this month in Texas.
“We are honored to have qualified for the FIRST Robotics World Championships. The Shambots have worked diligently this year to have a world-competitive robot that can perform reliably and accurately. They've accomplished this goal thanks to many hours of hard work, perseverance and with the help of our coaches and mentors,” stated Amy Ely, Director of STEM.
The team competed on the DTE Energy Field at the Michigan State Championship this past weekend, finishing the qualifying rounds ranked 10th overall, earning them the role of 8th alliance captain heading into the elimination rounds.
They pushed through the elimination rounds with their alliance partners Truck Town Thunder and Tractor Technicians, going three rounds before being eliminated.
Despite the elimination, their performance throughout the season earned them a spot at the FIRST World Championship, where they’ll represent not only their school but also the state of Michigan on an international stage.
The championship, held annually in Houston, Texas, brings together top teams from around the globe to compete.
“The George and Mary Turek Hall of Science has been an incomparable benefit to the team throughout the build and practice season for the Shambots as well as other local teams that have participated in our Shop Saturdays and Open Field events. We are very blessed to be on this path and look forward to what Worlds will bring,” Amy noted.
Good luck to our Shambots as they compete later this month! Stay tuned for more coverage.
