CC Parent Donates Soccer Uniforms To Orphanage in Kenya

The Catholic Central spirit can now be felt in Kenya, thanks to our generous soccer community and one very special parent.

Julie Webb traveled to Kenya for a 10-day mission trip with her employer and helped out at an orphanage while she was there. Her son, Tyler Webb ‘28, plays on Catholic Central’s JV White soccer team. The team donated a set of unused uniforms along with socks, shorts, and cleats to the kids, and Julie delivered them herself.

“Julie is the wonderful soccer parent that delivered the gear to Kenya. The jerseys we donated were ones we had in stock for our soccer team, but the school purchased us a new set this year so we were looking to put these to good use and this worked out perfectly. We had brand new miscellaneous shorts and socks from previous years that we were not using so we sent those as well with Julie. There were also many families that donated slightly used or new cleats as well,” stated Michelle Pierson, Director of Soccer Operations.

“Julie reached out asking for any old soccer gear families may have since these kids often have to play without shoes. When I saw her message, I figured it was a great opportunity to put our old uniforms to good use. We even tried sending 25 soccer backpacks, but unfortunately she could only fit so much stuff,” Pierson continued.

Julie thanks the Catholic Central community for their generous donations, stating, “You have no idea how happy these boys were with their new uniforms. It means SO much to them! You truly showed the love of God to them! Thank you!”
