CC Holds Championship Assembly Honoring Lacrosse, Golf, and Esports

Students wrapped up their first official week of the 2024-2025 school year by attending a Championship Assembly honoring the lacrosse, golf, and esports team’s state and national titles, which were won over the summer break.

The golf and lacrosse teams each won State Championship titles in their respective sports, while the esports team won a National Championship in Rocket League.

During the assembly, the head coaches of each team gave a speech, thanking the school for their support and paying tribute to their team’s hard work during the season. Banners were hung in the gymnasium for each new championship title.

The lacrosse team also accepted the 2024 MichLOA Sportsmanship Award from the Michigan Lacrosse Officials Association (MichLOA).

"This is what happens when good parenting meets the mission statement of Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge. It is truly an honor to not only win the state championship for our school, but prove that we have done it with class, and in concert with our officials, with whom we could not have games in which to participate,” stated Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach, Dave Wilson ‘88.

The MichLOA recognizes teams for their unique ability to succeed in their sport, not just by winning games, but also by setting the standard for fairness and character. The award recognizes teams that have demonstrated good sportsmanship at the highest level, based on nominations submitted by officials throughout the season.
