Catholic Central Wraps Up Boys’ Bowl Spirit Week with Assembly

On Friday, October 3, 2025, Catholic Central wrapped up Boys’ Bowl Spirit Week and kicked off homecoming weekend with plenty of Shamrock tradition.

The morning began with a schoolwide breakfast at 8:00 a.m., followed by the annual Shamrock Shuffle at 8:15 a.m. The charitable run/walk benefits Make-A-Wish Michigan, with students and faculty filling the campus as they ran and walked together in support of the cause.

Every year, the student DECA Chapter oversees Catholic Central’s fundraising initiatives, working with the community to secure donations for Make-A-Wish. Help our students reach their goal. Donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation can be made by clicking here

At 9:30 a.m., the school gathered in the gym for the annual Boys’ Bowl Assembly. Highlights included the unveiling of this year’s Boys’ Bowl mural, a student-created painting celebrating the Shamrocks’ homecoming game against Brother Rice.

Head Football Coach Justin Cessante ’99 and the senior football captains energized the crowd with speeches, a hype video, and a call for a “black out” in support of the team at this weekend’s Boys’ Bowl game. The assembly also featured one of CC’s favorite traditions - the football captains taking part in the annual pumpkin smashing, a spirited nod to rival Brother Rice’s orange school colors.

The students also hosted a pumkpin pie eating contest and a spikeball tournament in front of the crowd.

Following the assembly, students were dismissed for the day, with the Spanish Honor Society hosting a taco truck from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to close out the celebration.
