Catholic Central Welcomes Simon Juncaj ’11 as Director of IT

Catholic Central is proud to welcome Simon Juncaj ‘11 as our Director of Information Technology. A familiar face on campus once again, Juncaj returns to his alma mater after more than a decade leading IT teams in the corporate world.

Juncaj’s decision to come back to Catholic Central was guided by faith and timing that he describes as “more than a coincidence.”

“I’ve been in the corporate world for over a decade now, leading IT teams at different global auto part manufacturers,” Juncaj said. “I always thought I might climb the corporate ladder as I was doing and never had any reason to get out of that life. That is until the opportunity at CC was presented to me and it got me thinking. I’ve always said that God has a plan for me, and the timing of the opportunity seemed like more than a coincidence.”

The chance to work alongside his younger brother, Stephen Juncaj ’18, who also serves as the school’s Digital Strategist, made the decision even more meaningful.

“That combined with the fact that I graduated here in ’11 and my brother, Stephen ’18, who also works here, made the decision a no-brainer,” Juncaj said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue advancing technology at my alma mater.”

As Director of IT, Juncaj’s focus will center on strengthening Catholic Central’s technological foundation to meet the needs of a rapidly growing institution.

“The main priorities will be to focus on customer service for our end users, strengthen our infrastructure and cybersecurity posture, and deliver the essential tools and services that our students, faculty, and parents require throughout their time here,” he explained. “Technology is at the forefront of every company, organization, or institution, and we need to make sure that with the rapid expansion of the institution that our tech is up to standard.”

A member of the class of 2011, Juncaj looks back fondly on his student years filled with the events and traditions that define Catholic Central’s brotherhood.

“Some of my favorite memories were the events that were always going on, whether it was Boys’ Bowl, retreats, DRIVE, wrestling assembly matches, or football games,” he recalled.

Outside of work, Juncaj enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially his four nephews, all under the age of five. He stays active through regular workouts, basketball, and soccer, and also enjoys working on cars (“German engineering!”), attending Detroit sports games, and playing video games.

As he begins this new chapter, Juncaj is thankful for the warm welcome he’s received from the Catholic Central community.

“Just a quick thanks to the faculty and administration who have welcomed me with open arms,” he said. “I look forward to working with everyone and delivering IT solutions to make their lives easier.”
