Catholic Central Holds Second Annual Esports Assembly Match

On Monday, November 25, 2024, Catholic Central held its second annual live Esports Rocket League assembly match against Grand Rapids West Catholic.

In a battle of the top two Rocket League teams in Michigan, Catholic Central got off to a hot start, claiming the first round of the best of five series. Despite a spirited atmosphere in front of the entire Shamrock student body, top-ranked West Catholic rallied to win the series. 

The assembly match was broadcast live by the Shamrock Media Team on the CC YouTube channel, with last year’s team captains, Jacob Bennett ‘24 and Marcus Vlad ‘24, serving as the commentators.

Last year’s match against Macomb Dakota, which CC won, went viral, resulting in more than 25 million views, 1 million likes, 100K shares and nearly 6,000 comments on social media. It was shared by ESPN, SportsCenter, Whistle Sports, and professional influencers Jake Lucky and TJ Hitchings. 
Catholic Central’s Esports Team won the 2024 PlayVS Cup National Championship for Rocket League and was ranked the #1 High School Esports Team by USA Today after only eight weeks into the Fall 2024 season.

Two Dozen CC Alumni Mentor AP Government Students at Annual Law Day

On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, senior students from Catholic Central’s AP Government class participated in the annual Detroit CC Alumni Law Day. Hosted by nearly two dozen CC alumni, the event took place at both the Wayne County Criminal Justice Center in the courtroom of Judge Paul Cusick '99 and at the Theodore Levin United States Courthouse in the courtroom of Judge Sean Cox '75.
