Detroit Catholic Central won the 2025 MHSAA Division 1 Football State Championship on Sunday, November 30, defeating Cass Tech 42–19 at Ford Field.

This victory marks the program’s first state championship title in 16 years. Catholic Central’s previous titles were earned in 1936, 1937, 1938, 1942, 1979, 1990, 1992, 1995, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2009. The Shamrocks also finished as state finalists in 1987, 1988, 1991, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2016.

“It’s a tremendous feeling,” said Head Varsity Football Coach Justin Cessante ’99. “Other than being married and my children, bringing a championship back to my alma mater, Detroit Catholic Central, where this state championship belongs, against a team where we’ve had enough over the years in regard to the rivalry that’s been built, them being a nemesis, and us getting over the hump and finishing what we started.”
