Catholic Central DECA Members Inspire Future Shamrocks

On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, more than 60 Junior Shamrocks participated in our Business, Finance and Data Science Night. The night was led by our business department, specifically Amanda Loffler, Dawn Jenkins, and members of Catholic Central’s DECA Chapter and Finance club, who shared information about DECA and what it offers to high school students interested in business.

“It was incredible to welcome so many future Shamrocks to campus and provide them with a unique look at what our programs offer here at Catholic Central. The night was a fun way to showcase our Business & Finance programs and the amazing opportunities available to our students,” stated Mrs. Loffler.

The event began in the Immersion Theater with a presentation from DECA members about the organization’s purpose, activities, and how students can get involved once they reach high school. That presentation was followed up by the Finance Club with information on what they do as an organization, how the club was founded, and how they have created a portfolio with REAL money.

Following the presentation, the group moved to the Business & Finance Center, where the Junior Shamrocks participated in Mrs. Amanda Lofler’s team activities that showcased how to save their money, where to save it, and how it is important to save for their retirement.

With the last rotation of the night, the group moved to the Learning Commons where Mrs. Dawn Jenkins’s activities were held. In this presentation, Mrs. Jenkins showcased how marketing and building a brand is a vital process to creating a business.

Catholic Central’s DECA Chapter and Finance Club are two of the school’s most active student organizations. Members develop leadership and communication skills through projects, competitions, and field trips. Each year, several students advance to state and national DECA events. The Finance team has over 190 club members playing a part in their success in finance education!

The night was the most recent event hosted as part of the Junior Shamrock Program, which introduces boys in grades K-8 to Catholic Central’s community and activities. There are more events on the horizon, so make sure to sign up for the free program if your son would like to take part in these kinds of activities!
