Catholic Central Congratulates National Merit Finalists and Commended Students

Catholic Central proudly congratulates four seniors - Drew Abbott ’25, Edward Badel ’25, Christopher Goolsby ’25, and Peter Sanin ’25 - who have all been named National Merit Finalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Competition.

This marks the second consecutive year that every Catholic Central Semifinalist has advanced to the Finalist stage, reflecting our longstanding tradition of academic excellence and bringing the school’s two-year total to an incredible nine National Merit Finalists - a benchmark among Catholic schools in the state of Michigan.

As Finalists, these remarkable students are now eligible to compete for the National Merit $2,500 Scholarship.

We also applaud our eight seniors recognized as Commended Students in the 2025 program: Dylan Cregar '25, Fischer Datesman '25, Jarod Dufield '25, Yechiel Gutiérrez-Diaz '25, Ian Lee '25, Nicholas Leiter '25, Louis Weber '25, and Benjamin Yancey '25. Their achievements highlight the dedication and hard work shared by students, families, and faculty.

Catholic Central is honored to continue its legacy of academic distinction and looks forward to watching these students pursue their next milestones.
