Catholic Central Collects 15 Pounds of Medications at Drug Takeback Day

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, Catholic Central High School hosted a Drug Takeback Day to promote safe and responsible medication disposal. The event was organized by School Nurse Laura Helm and student volunteer Jonathan Creen ’27, with the support of the Novi Police Department.

The initiative provided an opportunity for community members to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications, helping to prevent misuse and protect the environment.

“While we don’t have an exact count of pills, we estimate that approximately 15 pounds of medication were collected,” said Nurse Helm. “The box was sent with the Novi Police Department for proper disposal.”

Students who participated in the event were eligible to earn service hours for their involvement.

Thank you to Nurse Helm, Jonathan, and the Novi Police Department for helping make this year’s Drug Takeback Day a success.
