On April 12, 2024, Catholic Central’s Brooks Rogowski ’26 was picked in the Second Round and as the first American in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the Oshawa Generals. The two-day draft wrapped up on Saturday, April 13 with 302 total players taken in 15 rounds.
Rogowski earned 19 goals and 24 assists for a total of 43 points overall in 25 games during the regular season at Catholic Central. He also added two goals and two assists in the five playoff games leading up to Catholic Central’s fifth straight state title.
Standing at 6’4 and weighing 190 pounds, scouts have described him as a big, physical force with an intimidating body on the ice. Oshawa anticipates Rogowski to be a tough centerman, thanks to his solid foundation in Catholic Central’s hockey program.
His coaches have said multiple times that he’s a great player, but he’s also a great young man. They are happy for him as it’s a great accomplishment for him and the program.
Additionally, senior Captain Jackson Walsh has committed to playing hockey at University of Notre Dame for the 2026 season. The three-year varsity player had 39 points, 12 goals, and 27 assists in 24 games this year.
Walsh stood out during the offseason, too. He played three seasons with the Michigan Development Hockey League, a premier fall development league where players regularly go on to compete in the USHL and NCAA, eventually.
As a three-time State Champion at the Michigan State High School level and an honor roll student, Walsh’s coaches at Catholic Central are proud of him and grateful for his dedication to the team during his high school career.
“Jackson had a major impact on the program and its success over the past three years, both as a player and leader. We are really excited and proud of him for this accomplishment,” stated Assistant Hockey Coach, Mike Oakleaf ‘05.
