The varsity baseball team defeated Rochester Adams 7-0 on Saturday, June 13, at Michigan State University's McLane Stadium to win the MHSAA Division 1 State Championship, securing the program's first state title in 27 years and fourth overall. 

For the team's seniors, the championship was the payoff for years of work and a season-long belief that this could be their year.

The Shamrocks got off to a fast start when Bennett Thompson ‘26 opened the game with a triple and later scored the first run of the afternoon. The offense never let up. The team finished with five triples, setting a Division 1 championship game record. Dylan Fairchild ‘26 drove in three runs, while Cam Swearingen ‘26 and Jaxon Gatt ‘27 also contributed RBIs.

With the offense providing support, Mike Laser ‘26 took care of the rest. Pitching on the biggest stage of his career, Laser threw a complete-game shutout and allowed just four hits.

The championship run did not happen overnight. After falling short in the Catholic League Tournament, the Shamrocks regrouped and used the loss as motivation heading into the state tournament. From there, they put together one of the best postseason runs in program history.
