Andrew Schenk '24 is the 2022-2023 schoolwide Poetry Out Loud Champion

Congratulations to schoolwide champion Andrew Schenk '24, who represented CC in the Poetry Out Loud State Championship, held in East Lansing on March 3-4!

The Poetry Out Loud program, a Michigan Humanities Council partnership program with the National Endowment for the Arts, The Poetry Foundation, Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, the Library of Michigan, and the Michigan Youth Arts Association, encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition.

Poetry Out Loud helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage.  Each student's performance is judged on his Physical Presence, Voice and Articulation, Dramatic Appropriateness, Evidence of Understanding, and Overall Performance.
