What does being recognized by this program mean to you?
It means being able to see the fruits of my labors and being confident in my abilities and my future.
How important is your cultural background to you? Have you grown in that identity while at Catholic Central?
My cultural background means a lot to me. It is important to be able to represent my family and be a model for other guys that look like me. With creating a chapter of the Black Awareness Society for Education (BASE) at CC with Mr. Chris Okoye, Coach Jackson, and William Patterson, I feel that I have grown very much in that identity here.
What are some of the things you are involved with outside of classes?
I am a member of Jack and Jill of America, an African American Leadership organization. Through this group, I frequently take part in community service, such as running or aiding food and clothing drives. I am an officer in CC's Model UN club, as well as co-president of the newly formed BASE chapter, our Black Student Alliance.
What made you decide to attend CC for high school? What is your favorite thing about CC?
The vast opportunities in STEM and the variety in extracurricular clubs and activities.
How has CC challenged you to grow during your time here?
The drive to and from school, especially with the road work has made me learn how to manage my time to make sure that I meet not only my obligations for the next day but my own needs as well.
What are your plans after Catholic Central?
I hope to go to the University of Michigan next fall to study Chemical Engineering. I'm eager to apply for their Formula SAE program.
