On Sunday, November 5, Catholic Central High School held its annual 8th grade open house from 10 am until 12 pm, attracting nearly 1,000 people from 75 middle schools and 42 cities throughout the Metro Detroit area. Guests from Ohio and Canada even made the trip to see the facility and talk to staff.
“With almost 1,000 people through the doors in two hours, it was an energetic, informative, and exciting day on campus. I heard a lot of families talking about how fun it was to walk through the Hall of Science for the first time, but even more families talking about how impressed they were with our faculty, staff, and students,” stated Jake Marmul ‘07, Director of Admissions and Public Relations.
Prospective students and families signed in at the main entrance and walked through the building on a self-guided tour to see the new Hall of Science construction, scheduled to be open during the fall of 2024.
Academic departments and teachers were spread throughout the building while clubs, activities, and athletic programs were present in the gym with coaches and current students greeting potential families. The Mother’s Club, Dads’ Club, and alumni handed out light receptions in the cafeteria, the robotics team gave a live demonstration of their robot, and the Catholic Central High School band performed live in the band room. The school’s spirit store was also open to the public.
Catholic Central hosts 8th grade open house in the fall every year. There is a general open house for all grades in the spring, scheduled for Sunday, April 14th, allowing families to tour the building and learn why CC is the best choice they can make for their son’s future. The Admissions Department also hosts an activities night on January 17th. Applications for the initial round of acceptance into CC is December 15th. Candidates will still be considered after this date, but on a staggered basis.
Shadow Days are also a wonderful way for students to get a taste of what life is like at CC. Space is limited, and registration for Shadow Days is required. During Shadow days, parents meet with the admissions team with their sons from 8 am until 9 am. Parents then depart while their sons stay until 1:30 pm for a tour of the facility, complimentary lunch, and an interview with the Admissions Office.
